AboutBrands aren't logos. They're systems — built from strategy, shaped by context, and held together by design decisions that most people never notice.

I'm Laura, a brand designer at Vaisala with 14+ years in the creative industry. I specialize in brand development, design systems, and bringing AI into the creative process.

My career has moved from hands-on graphic design toward increasingly strategic and leadership-oriented work. At hasan &#38;amp; partners, I served as supervisor and design lead for a multidisciplinary production team — coaching talent, improving workflows, and building the standards and onboarding materials that helped the team deliver more consistently. That combination of creative skill and operational thinking is what I bring to every role.
At Vaisala, I contribute to developing brand guidelines, creating process documentation, and improving creative workflows — helping ensure brand consistency and efficiency across the organisation. My work sits at the point where creative direction meets business objectives.

What drives me is making brands work — not just look good, but connect meaningfully to business strategy. I focus on building the systems, processes, and visual foundations that let good design scale across an organisation.

I'm also deeply interested in how AI is changing creative work. I use AI tools as part of my design process, from concept development to production workflows, and I actively explore what these tools mean for the future of brand design.

K-Citymarket brand identity renewal
K-Citymarket is a national hypermarket chain of Kesko. In 2020, KCM took the decision to renew its identity system. The goal was clear: to clarify and invigorate its brand across a nationwide hypermarket chain. The new visual language established was to be cohesive and dynamic, enhancing recognition and unifying the customer experience while allowing flexibility for individual stores.
K-Citymarket's new brand identity is designed to embody its persona: social, lively, outgoing, and entertaining. This is reflected in a visual identity that is clear, approachable, and full of energy, creating a vibrant and engaging experience for customers. My role in this project was as a designer.

Teatterikortti – 
visual concept

UI design
Teatterikortti (Theatre Card) is a concept that brings theatre culture closer to a wider audience. It is an annual ticket that grants access to theatres all around Finland. The service is a mobile app that provides the annual ticket in a QR code form. Through the app, the ticket holder may make reservations to plays, get info about the theatres and recommendations about plays coming to premiere.
The motivation behind this initiative is to invigorate Finland's theatrical culture scene.&#38;nbsp;

Kiinteistömaailma – A brand update
Kiinteistömaailma required a new identity to solidify its position as a leading real estate agency in Finland. I collaborated with the lead designer to create a bold and modern brand refresh. The redesigned identity shifted the brand towards a more human-centred and approachable direction, maintaining its distinctive green colour while introducing dynamic patterns that underscore its human-centric values and warmth.

Fiskars Xact launch campaign
Fiskars launched its new Xact product series in the international market in the beginning of the year 2018. I was part of the marketing communications team creating the campaign concept and the rollout of the multichannel production.
The concept was to bring people back ‘to earth’ in a most literal way, away from their screens to enjoy the simple and slow life of gardening.

The Tinyhoot – A handcraft brand identity
The Tinyhoot is my own handcraft brand for my handcraft projects. I love to knit, crochet, do embroidering and punch needle work. The most popular crafts have been little amigurumi characters that I crochet and make little keyrings of them.

Bird Spring – a mobile app redesign
Muuttolintujen Kevät is a mobile app developed by the University of Jyväskylä that allows researchers to track the return of migratory birds and allows citizens to identify birds by their recordings.As an active user of the app myself, I wanted to create a more user-friendly interface for the app. The project is therefore entirely self-initiated and private.

Ebike Center – A brand identity 
case story
Ebike Center is a Finnish e-bike retailer founded by two brothers with deep industry knowledge and a growing customer base. Their brand had evolved organically — a gradient gold logo, inconsistent typography, and no defined visual system. The identity didn't match the expertise behind the business.
Working at hasan &#38;amp; partners, I led the visual design direction for a full brand refinement: from audit and competitor analysis through to a new visual identity, brand guidelines, and applied design across digital and physical touchpoints.

The ChallengeThe existing identity had several issues. The logo relied on a gold gradient that broke down at small sizes and on light backgrounds. Typography was undefined — dozens of different fonts appeared across the website, social media, and store signage. The overall look felt inconsistent and lacked the professional, trustworthy impression the business needed to support its growth.

I started with an audit of the existing brand, mapping every touchpoint where the identity appeared — website, social media, store signage, packaging. Then I ran a competitor analysis across the Finnish e-bike market, examining how competitors handled logo conventions, color, typography, and graphic elements.

A key insight from the analysis:
Nearly every competitor in the space uses black-and-white palettes with sans-serif logotypes. Differentiation opportunities existed in color, personality, and how the brand communicated — not just how it looked.Together with the client, we defined brand attributes through a word-selection exercise and distilled them into three communication cornerstones: expertise, approachability, and confidence.

Three Design RoutesBased on the strategy work, I developed three distinct visual directions — each interpreting the brand attributes differently through logo refinement, color palette, typography, and graphic elements.

The Chosen Direction
The final direction modernized the logo with Brandon Grotesque, introduced a refined C-mark icon, and defined a warm, premium color palette anchored in black and gold. The updated gradient was reworked to be more controlled and reproducible, and a full typography system ​(Space Grotesk) brought consistency across all materials.

Applied DesignThe new identity was rolled out across digital and physical channels: website, social media templates, newsletter, store signage, exhibition stand, and branded merchandise.

Results
The brand refresh was part of a broader investment in branding and digital marketing.

K-Market brand revision
K-Market is retail chain under Kesko. The brand was updated in 2020. My role in this project was to co-design with the lead designer the guidelines for the new visual identity. Together we build the look on defined brand colours. I created the applications and the final guideline and assets for the client.&#38;nbsp;

For the web version of the guideline I designed the template visualities and optimized the contents accordingly to the platform.
